Content Creator Day in Phuket

Cinema gear, a local crew and a van. You focus on the content — we handle the rest.

Phuket delivers the kind of visuals most creators fly halfway around the world for: coastlines, temples, jungle, street markets, golden-hour rooftops. But showing up with a phone and a tripod leaves serious quality on the table — and showing up with gear in your check-in luggage means customs risk, airline restrictions and half a day wasted on logistics.

Spielben & Co. runs full-day creator production packages out of Phuket. One call, one day, one van. We bring the cinema camera, the wireless mics, the drone and the crew. You bring your creative direction. By end of day you leave with footage that actually looks like Phuket.

What every creator needs to know before filming in Phuket

Best time to shoot

Phuket’s dry season runs November to April — reliable golden hours, low wind, clean horizons. The wet season (May to October) brings dramatic skies and empty beaches, but plan for afternoon showers. Peak light is 6:30–8:30 AM and 4:30–6:30 PM year-round. Midday sun is harsh and flat — schedule your transitions and travel between locations for noon.

Locations worth building your day around

Phuket rewards creators who move. A well-planned day can cover four to five distinct looks without ever leaving the island:

  • Rawai and Nai Harn — low-key fishing village, longtail boats, turquoise water without the crowds
  • Old Phuket Town — Sino-Portuguese architecture, painted facades, street markets; ideal for lifestyle and fashion content
  • Phromthep Cape — the island’s best sunset point; arrive 45 minutes early or you’ll be shooting around a crowd
  • Chalong Temple — strong cultural context, dramatic architecture; dress modestly and avoid early morning prayer times
  • Bang Tao and Surin beaches — clean sand, resort backdrops, consistent wind for movement in shots
  • Jungle and inland areas — requires an early start, but delivers visuals most Phuket content completely ignores
  • The surrounding islands — Phi Phi, Koh Racha, Koh Bon. We organize the longtail boat or speedboat. An island day adds visuals that most Phuket content never gets near.

Drone footage — what's actually legal

A 9km no-fly exclusion zone surrounds Phuket International Airport and covers most of the northern and central parts of the island. Legal drone flights require CAAT registration, a 72-hour advance flight declaration, and third-party liability insurance. For creators, the simplest solution is to include a licensed pilot in your package — all declarations and permits are handled before the day starts.

Filming permissions

Most outdoor public locations in Phuket don’t require a formal permit for content creation. Temple grounds, markets and beaches are generally accessible. Exceptions: national park areas, resort properties, and any location involving commercial use of a brand or product. We advise on a case-by-case basis during pre-production — it’s part of what local knowledge is for.

Gear on the ground vs. gear in your bag

Thai customs regularly flags professional camera equipment as commercial import. Airlines restrict lithium battery quantities. Carrying a full cinema kit internationally adds risk, cost and friction to every leg of your trip. Renting locally means CAAT-registered drones, fully insured equipment and zero airport stress — and the gear meets you at the van.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my own camera and just hire the crew and van?

Yes — we’re happy to work with your camera. We’ll need a bit of time before the shoot to get familiar with it. Keep in mind this puts a bit more responsibility on our side regarding the quality of the delivered footage. Contact us to discuss the details.

Do you provide editing or post-production?

Post-production is available as a separate service. Creator day packages cover on-location production only.

How many locations can we cover in a day?

Typically four to five, depending on travel time and shot complexity. We plan the route in advance and factor in golden-hour windows.

What happens if it rains?

We reschedule at no charge if conditions make filming impossible. Phuket weather is generally predictable 24–48 hours out and we monitor it closely.

Is the drone available at all locations?

Drone flights are subject to CAAT regulations and no-fly zone restrictions. We identify legal flight locations during pre-production planning and submit all declarations 72 hours in advance.

How flexible is the booking?

We ask for 48 hours notice to confirm your slot. Rain reschedules are free — always. For cancellations within 24 hours of the shoot, we retain 50% of the booking fee, as the crew and logistics are already locked in.
